What “Vero” Means

In Italian “Vero" means "True." To us, it’s a promise to our family, our customers, and our franchisees that we will uphold the same level of care, quality, and integrity in every pizza, every store, and every partnership. It means honoring where we came from, keeping traditions alive, and doing it the right way—every time.

The Vero Team

Joe Scarnato

CEO

Joe and his brother Tim decided to join the highly competitive Chicago-land area pizza industry. With their first location in the Chicago suburb of Vernon Hills in 1992 they were off and running. As their success continued, and they added locations, Joe spent more time on the administrative and development side of the business, while still running the kitchens every night. His years of experience in the kitchen and running the books has given him valuable and unique insight in overseeing Vero Franchising and its continued development.

Tarin Scarnato

President

Born into the business, Tarin brings both the background and experience to his position as President. He began as a line cook and soon became a leader and kitchen manager at our largest full-service location all before he was 18. Tarin left to pursue a hospitality degree at NAU, while also working for Disney and some of the most prestigious country clubs in the US. When the family opened their first Arizona location, it was only natural for him to rejoin the family business. He has since been the driving force behind the development and expansion of Vero Franchising.

Tim Scarnato

Vice President

The Pizza Maker! From the first moment the Scarnato brothers started in 1992, Tim has been the force in creating and refining the Scarnato family recipes that we are now known for. Tim is still active in all aspects of back-of-the-house operations and has run our kitchens for the last 30+ years. After opening the family’s past 16 restaurants, he will play an integral role in assisting each franchisee in becoming a well-oiled machine. Tim will provide the kitchens with regular evaluations and training to ensure our product is being delivered at our standards.

Alex Mejia

COO

Alex became part of the Scarnato family through his dedication and hard work at Vero’s first Arizona location in Queen Creek. Quickly proving himself as a skilled leader, he advanced to manager and eventually partner. Today, Alex plays a key role in adapting the Scarnato family’s cherished recipes for mass production while successfully operating two franchise locations. Alongside Tim, he provides comprehensive back-of-house support, including training, ordering, and production, ensuring consistency and excellence across all Vero locations.

Taao Scarnato

CMO

Taao has been immersed in the family business since childhood, growing up in the Scarnato's restaurants alongside his brother Tarin. Over the years, he has played a crucial role in shaping the family's brands, designing store websites, logos, and interior spaces. With a degree in Graphic Information Technologies and hands-on experience as a carpenter and designer, Taao has been instrumental in the buildout and development of Vero’s signature aesthetic, ensuring a cohesive and engaging branding experience across all locations.

Brooklynn Scarnato

Marketing Director

Brooklynn began her journey with Vero as a waitress at our original Arizona location, where she quickly developed a passion for both our product and our mission. In 2019, she married Tarin Scarnato and took on a larger role in training and organizing front-of-house operations. Today, Brooklynn leads Vero’s social media marketing efforts while continuing to provide front-of-house support for new franchise locations, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience for both customers and staff.
